Until December 24th, 2017, Place des Arts is transformed into a beautiful Christmas village full of games and entertainment. This festive and colorful event offers to visitors the opportunity to meet Mother Christmas and her friend Robert, the Elf. To complete the atmosphere, the choirs present the most beautiful Christmas songs.
During the weekends, the market also invites you to use your creativity and participate in: Christmas cards, cookies and Christmas decoration workshops. Several authentic products are available such as jewelry, gourmet products, soaps, fashion items, toys and much more. Everything is produced by more than sixty Quebec artisans.
At Montreal Christmas Market, the food diversity is the highpoint for the street trucks, where you can enjoy local producers. You will find a variety of sandwiches, pancakes, cakes, pastries and treats. In addition, classic local gourmet, vegan meals, as well as a selection of hot drinks. Kids will be delighted with cotton candy, maple taffy on the snow and grilled marshmallows.
Santa’s Kingdom at Complexe Desjardins
Once again this year, Complexe Desjardins promotes plenty of activities at Santa’s Kingdom until December 24th. In addition to meet Santa Claus, children can play on the miniature train, the carousel and the “tout petits” zone. For adults, a market full of gift ideas and shows will take place.
Among these shows, Boreal Fountain is an immersive and multisensory spectacle happening for the second year at the complex Grande-Place. In addition, discover local dance performances as well as orchestras and Christmas choirs open to the public.

Noël dans le parc festival
Until December 25th, Place Émilie-Gamelin, Parc des Compagnons de Saint-Laurent and Parc Lahaie receive more than 100 shows and events entirely free to celebrate Christmas holidays.
The festival mission is to create a Christmas village in an urban environment; a multicultural place to meet people, that reminds us the sharing and community spirit. By combining art, music and creativity, the three villages offer a diversified program in accordance with its values of social inclusion.
For this 24th edition, the festival expresses its social and environmental responsibility. The organizers have taken initiatives that seek to minimize the environmental footprint and increase benefits for the local community. Check out all the details here.
In many churches in Montreal, Christmas is celebrated with the splendid presentation of choirs. Hotel Y Montreal particularly suggests the December 24th presentations at Montreal Great Cathedral or at Notre-Dame Basilica. Beyond the religious aspect, the beauty and power of the choirs music convey to the public a peace feeling and all the magic of the holiday season.
At the Marie-Reine-du-monde Great Cathedral, on December 24th, the Montreal Polyphonic Choir participates in the Christmas celebrations at the 8 pm mass. The choir then perform a concert of Christmas carols at 11 pm, followed by a new mass at midnight. Admission is free for all.
The Notre-Dame Basilica choir, in its turn, will perform on December 24th at the 9:30 pm and midnight masses. In addition, a family mass will be offered at 7 pm, animated by traditional songs and a living nativity scene. Tickets are only sold before December 24th at the box office on the front of the church.
Merry Montreal has prepared three major free events to finish the year of its 375th anniversary in great style. After a rich and festive calendar throughout 2017, Montrealers and travelers will benefit from a five-star celebration.
Commemorations will take place from December 21st to 31st at the Nordic Square, where visitors will appreciate musical performances.
