Hotel Y Montreal shows a social involvement by reinvesting all its profits in the mission of the YWCA Montreal to keep up and develop programs and services for women and girls. The YWCA is also supported by the Women’s Y Foundation thanks to fundraising events it organizes. For the 8th year in a row, the Foundation takes part in the Scotia Bank event, its races and its charity challenge.
As it is said on the race official website “the race frequently hosts some of the country’s top athletes, and is one of the strongest fundraising events in Montreal, raising over $1 million for local charities in 2015 and 2016.”
Let’s move to build a better future!
Every year, Scotia Bank organizes a 2 day sport event. Three races in total are available. A 21.1 k half-marathon, a 10 k race and a route of 5 k you can also go through with a stroller, just in case you feel like gathering your family for such an event.
Women’s Y Foundation got involved in the charity challenge. Every participant is meant to raise money and donations which will directly supply the YWCA Montreal activities. The Foundation expects to raise about $40.000.
Why do they make the effort?
This year, 48 brave runners are collecting money. Thus, they contribute to:
- Overcome exclusions, inequalities and isolation among women
- Promote social and professional reintegration
- Prevent bullying and cyber-bullying
- Promote leadership
- Help women realize their full personal and professional potential
- Foster the well-being of women
- End violence against women
So let’s meet on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 to support all the runners who will run under the YWCA’s flag! Start line will be held in Parc Jean-Drapeau!
